I would like to officially introduce my series of illustrated stories, Jumping Dopamine.
This project began as part of my master’s thesis and has now evolved into an independent project. It consists of very short stories with simple subjects—the most insignificant details and daily emotions of life. If you find yourself thinking, “It isn’t complicated at all! These stories are just the bits and pieces of my daily life,” then I’ve achieved my goal, as that is exactly my intention.
Within the world of Jumping Dopamine, I want to share this belief: I will always firmly believe that happiness shouldn’t only come from grand achievements or extraordinary success. On the contrary, as long as I have the ability to feel and discover tiny joys, I can experience a profound sense of fulfillment and joy in this world.
In this world, emotions are like vibrant, bouncing little balls. They might hit you or catch you off guard, but you can also try to catch them, hold them, and play with them. In this book, you’ll see emotions coming from all directions of the protagonist’s life. Some stories might feel warm, ironic, or sad, while others might simply make you smile in quiet recognition. Whatever your reaction, it means you’ve successfully “caught” the ball I tossed to you.
Following this philosophy, I completed 18 stories in 2024. I’ll be sharing them here while creating new ones. This has become a long-term project that I intend to keep developing.
During the creative process, I realized this world might need new characters, so I’ve created some new concept designs. They are colorful figures without facial features, and they are intentionally blank, acting as a mirror for anyone to see themselves in. They’ll be joining the world of Jumping Dopamine in the future.
Come and explore this bouncing world with Mopo!
(Thank you for reading this far! Wishing you a happy day! )
